On iOS, Singapore Rail features the latest service status for MRT and LRT services, Learn More, Notifications, Siri Shortcuts, custom App Icons, Tip Jar, Clothing, along with Feedback, and the ability to keep up-to-date with the latest transport news.

On iPad, Singapore Rail sports a three-column layout that includes Line Status, Stations Status, and Disruption Details views.

Line Status

The Line Status view is displayed on the initial screen of the app on iPhone and in in the sidebar on iPad. It is divided into two sections: one for Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and one for Light Rail Transit (LRT).

When service is available and there are no disruptions you’ll see a green tick. When there are disruptions on a line that result in service being unavailable, you’ll see a red exclamation mark.

Learn More is a feature that gives you quick access to the Land Transport Authority’s information about each line. To access Learn More, long-press on one of the lines in the Line Status view and a menu will appear with the Learn More button. When you tap on this menu option, your preferred browser will open and display additional information about the selected line.

The service status will update anytime the app is launched, brought to the foreground, or when a notification is received. You can refresh the status manually by tapping the Refresh button.


Station Status (iPad Only)

The Station Status view displays the service status for each station on the selected line. Long-pressing on a station will open a menu that gives you the option of navigating to maps. If you select a station for a line which is experiencing a disruption, a map of the station’s location is added to the Service Status view.


Service Status

The Service Status view collates all details regarding a service disruption.

Alert Messages: This section displays all service alerts related to the incident. Alert messages are not localised and are displayed as-is.

Travel Direction: This section displays the direction of travel that is impacted.

Free Public Bus: If free public buses are operating between impacted stations, the stations that are being serviced are displayed here.

Free MRT Shuttle: If a free MRT shuttle is operating between impacted stations, the stations that are being serviced are displayed here.


Push Notifications

Push notifications are configured in the app’s Settings view (accessible by tapping the Gear button, then Notifications). By default, you’ll be signed up for notifications across all MRT and LRT lines.

Push notifications are not localised and are displayed as-is.


Siri Shortcuts

Siri Shortcuts are configured in the app’s Settings view (accessible by tapping the Gear button, then Siri Shortcuts).

These shortcuts give you a quick way to get the latest status just by asking, “Downtown line status”.

Once setup, you don’t need to open the app.


Widget

A simple widget is included with the app that checks for latest service disruptions. To enable:

  1. From the Home Screen, touch and hold a widget or an empty area until the apps jiggle.
  2. Tap the Add button in the upper-left corner.
  3. Select Singapore Rail, then tap Add Widget.
  4. Tap Done.
